Two teenagers have denied criminal damage after a chair was thrown over a balcony at Westfield in Stratford.
The boys, aged 14 and 15, were arrested after footage showed the large seat worth £500 being thrown from the third floor on March 1.
It landed just inches away from a man who as in the shopping centre at the time.
Someone can be heard saying: ‘There’s no way this guy’s doing this, oh my God.’
The pair, who cannot legally be named, pleaded not guilty to criminal damage with recklessness at Stratford Youth court.

They have been accused of damaging and attempting to destroy the seat, and were ‘reckless as to whether the life of another person would thereby be endangered’.
Matthew Groves, prosecuting, said one of the boys picked up the large chair and threw it 50 ft below while being filmed by the other.
He said: ‘The incident was filmed by agreement by (the other boy) with a view to being posted on the internet.’
The footage was widely viewed online, with viewers urging the police find the boys.
The boys were arrested and when interviewed made admissions to their involvement, Mr Groves said.
Both boys have been bailed but are not allowed to contact one another or go back to the shopping centre.
